I have a SharePoint List which I need to load into a dropdown field in a Canvas app. Is there a way to load it directly into the dropdown or is the only/better way to do it by loading the SharePoint List into a Collection and load the Canvas app dropdown field from the Collection?
Either way, does someone have a link to a video or website that shows how to do this?

Just add the list as a connector to SharePoint and make it the Items property of the dropdown. You can select the column name to show in the window of the control by selecting it in the right hand side of the screen. The list can be filtered and/or sorted.
