How do I build a PowerAutomate Flow to change a OneDrive shared document link from 'Can Edit' to 'Can View' between 7:00-7:15 AM weekdays?

This is a OneDrive document shared with me and several others, that I need to update between 7:00-7:15 AM weekdays, while making sure that no one else is making simultaneous edits.

Thank you for the response @Koen5

There are several obstacles we need to work around to find a solution that works for us:

    1. The file is updated by a python script saved as a .bat file scheduled via windows task scheduler

    2. The scheduled .bat updates the file synced to my desktop, but fails to sync the cloud/ server version when someone else has the file open for editing

    3. We have told and sent out repeated reminders to the editors to stay out of it for the 15-minute window daily, but compliance with the request is spotty
    4. I do not own the file - it is shared with me - I cannot make the switch back and forth between view and edit security for the sharing link

    5. The owner(s) refuse to relocate the file to a location we own or to make us owners of the file

    6. The organization has not enabled the use of Microsoft Graph API for SharePoint

    Dear S,

Since this is an individual short term action lasting only 15min, are you sure you want to automate this? Is there really a balance between efforts/impact?

It would seem simpler to me (since you are the one doing the step already) to manually change the settings while you update the file.

BTW, I have not yet encountered any flow/actions which allows you to change the administration settings of a file using PowerAutomate. It is not part of the standard actions as far as I can tell. This does not mean it cannot be done, but it would be some advanced stuff.

If you are that eager to automate a process in which users cannot edit a file within a certain time frame using existing PowerAutomate standard actions, I would opt to remove this file from a folder (to which users have edit rights) for a certain time period (and place it back there when the period ends).

    Hope the suggestions help,

    Happy flowing,

    Koen
