I am new to Power Automate. Was introduced to the system when seeking an RPA solution. It was presented as an alternative to UI Path, and I am trying to navigate the differences between the two. The main difference is that UI Path has or considers RPA as it's primary product where as with Power Automate, RPA is a component of a larger ecosystem.
With that intro, I am struggling with finding the right approach to what some may consider a simple automation. I have a site using CRM/Dynamics 365 runs two reports using a filter, exports both to individual files, and then e-mails the two reports. This is repeated 12 times each with it's own filter an e-mail.
We had chosen this as a possible option for our first RPA automation. It fits the RPA criteria as may be defined in the UI Path world. It is simple, direct, few decision points and a seemingly good starting test case. However as I have dived into Power Automate, the approach and process seemed muddied. Instead of an RPA (Desktop Flow), I've been told this is more suited to a Cloud Flow. Yet, as I have played with cloud flows, I am seeing how I can select and extract data, and generate e-mails, but I am not seeing how I can run an existing report and accomplish my goals. There seems to be a disconnect between what is expected as an RPA and how the Cloud Flows function.
Given that are there any suggestions as to how I may approach this test case? Is this best suited to a cloud flow? Perhaps a hybrid of desktop and cloud flows (We have a gateway installed). Please advise. Look forward to a response.
