Can you confirm whether the session isn't being overridden by another user/session attempting to log in simultaneously? If someone else is trying to access the VM concurrently, it could lead to this problem.
Another workaround mentioned in this forum:
In the event of encountering this issue, it's recommended to access the connection tab, re-enter your machine's password, and save the changes. This method sometimes resolving the problem.
