How can I see if UI Element is still recognized

Hello,

I`m new to Power Automate coming from other RPA-Tools and I have a question regarding the UI Element detector:

Sometimes, after I added a field with the UI Element Selector, I have to edit the Selector (most of the time I have to cut out number which are different at every run). I wondered if there is an option within Power Automate, where I can see that the field still gets recognized after I edited the selector. It`s pretty annoying when I edit the selector of a field and the robot doesn`t know which field I wanted to select.

I`m grateful for your help!

thx Ferry

I'm not aware of such a feature in PAD unfortunately. Most other RPA tools I've used have that feature, and it's certainly needed in PAD. What I do currently is to use an action that suits my fancy at the time such as "If window contains" and do a small DEBUG run for just that action or a small test block of actions to make sure it works. It's a workaround, and I assume you already do this, but I wanted to confirm you're not crazy. 😃

Hello - wanted to let you know this functionality is in our feature backlog for future consideration.  For the meanwhile the debugging approach described by @DaveTheRPAGuy works.   If your desktop flow is quite long and you don't want to run it from step 1, you can create a subflow and copy the relative actions into it, right click and select 'Run from here'.  Similarly you can do so with web elements, but will have to attach to a browser that is already open and then test the UI action with the correct browser handle selected as the input parameter.

Thx for your answers to both of you @DaveTheRPAGuy and @DSB. I`m already using the Workaround described by Dave, but I will have a second look on it
