Issue with Patch function

I have a reject button , onselect of this button , I want to update fields in my record , on my Histroy field which is a text field , I have set a variable "historytext" and I want to update my history field everytime on different occasions.
But OnSelect property of button my patch function is not working.
What am I missing ?
I'm new power apps

    Hi there,

     

    If historytext is your text input, then you need to use historytext.Text when you try to obtain the text that is inside it.

    Try replacing it on your formula.

    In summary: historytext will become historytext.Text
