Power Automate Desktop - Failed to write in textbox (failed to get window)

Hi Folks,

I am trying to automate some tasks for our folks who use BytePro which is loan origination system. I get the, failed to write in textbox error when I try to populate a textbox in a popup window shown attached. The main BytePro application window is marked in blue, the popup window is marked in red and the textbox I am trying to select is marked in green. I have also attached the selectors. I tried to get the window separately than the textbox just to compare the selectors. Both selectors are attached.

Can you please help me with correctly selecting the Filename textbox? Many thanks.

    Hi,

First, you should not have the ID or name of your data in the selector since it will only work for that ID / Name and won't work for others. You should remove it from your selector. Other than that, I don't any problem with your selector.

If you still can't Populate text in the field. Please try to add this action before populating text: If window contains element. If you can find the UI element by using this action then it should work fine for you. If not, then it is not able to find the UI element. Then I think you can try another workaround solution is to send hotkeys "Tab" to find the edit field and then Send Key to populate your text.

Thanks and hope it can help you.

The solution is not working for me. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong.
I used the If Contains UI Element, the Element is Found. I used the Send Keys - Tab and it is able to tab through the fields. However, when it comes to populating the text in window, it fails with the error "Failed to write in Textbox (error while writing)" I am not sure why it could recognize the UI element but not be able to write in it? Any ideas on what else I can try?

Can you share a screenshot of what your selector looks like?

This might be under a parent window element. You should look at that. It is likely going to be a browser window that has the title of the web page in its name. You should remove that.
