Trim and Sanitize user input

We're collecting input from an MS Form, then using it to create planner tasks and shared folders. Problem is if someone uses a special character or double spaces at the end of an entry being used to make the folders, it breaks that part of the process and the task is left empty and no folders are created.  Bottom line - i need to take their input in two different fields, trim up the additional spaces and replace the special characters. The resulting outputs would then be used to create a folder structure and task in Planner.

Everything works great until I attempt to trim or sanitize.  I realize the flow in my screenshot is probably set up wrong and that I may be making rudimentary mistakes. Looking for any guidance you're willing to give.   This is immediately following the flow trigger and initializing of variables.

Are there any error messages that will allow us to determine what the issue is? Please provide it with us.

    Best Regards,
