Send an Email Reminder Using SQL Server

Hello,

I'm building an App for application purposes. And It has 2 levels of the approval process.

In my SQL table, I have a column called "Request Status" and "Date Column"

If someone submits the request to the first level of approver; and approver does not make a decision within 4 days request. then approver will get a reminder email.

Thanks,

Omi

    Hi Omi,

Are you asking for assistance with how to create the Flow? Or are you asking a specific question about a Flow you've already created? More than happy to provide assistance if possible...just need some more info.

    Hi @DCReina ,

Yes, I'm asking for assistance on how to create flow for the given scenario.

    Thanks,

    Omi

Got it. Just making sure 🙂

Since there are many other data elements that could factor into your scenario that we can't see, I would suggest something like the following, understanding that I'm making a ton of assumptions:

    1) use SQL connector "When an item is modified"

    2) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/modern-approvals - look through this article on adding approvals to flows. I would suggest using the "start an approval" action and then using the other connector options to wait for the correct approval statuses

    Hi @DCReina ,

I'm building an app for approval instead of using power automate. I'm just trying to send a reminder after certain days of no action on a particular request.

    understood.

I would suggest using the SQL connector with a Trigger Condition for your specific status (help with trigger conditions and their syntax can be found here:  )

Once the trigger condition has been met, create a "delay" action for 4 days, create a condition that checks the status identified in the Trigger Condition, if = status, create "send email" action, if no, end

    Would that work?

    Hi @DCReina ,

Thanks for your reply. Somehow I'm not able to get a table name to select in SQL connector.  I'll try it once again in some time.

    Hi @omi18

The timeout for the Approval is 30 days. I don't believe there's a way to define a timeout before that. What you can do is register the date in your database and ping the user reminding him/her that they need to approve, but you can't cancel it automatically before that.

If you like my response, please give it a Thumbs Up.

    Cheers
