Flow Emails are coming from the creator rather than Microsoft Flow.

Hi guys,

I've created a request manager approval from team's flow within flow for the organization. The issue I'm facing is that all the requests sent to the manager's and other relevant users when the flow is triggered is coming from myself instead of the default Microsoft Flow. Is there a way to change this so that it shows that the requests are coming from Microsoft Flow instead of myself in the email itself?

Thanks a mil,

Regards,

Artie

    Hi ASLR,

I am afraid that it might be a default behavior. An approval email will be sent out from the email account who set up the flow, but neither the one who start up the application nor Microsoft Flow.

I would suggest you submit a request at Flow Ideas Forum, I will help collect and report it on my side. Hope it can be taken into consideration in the future releases:

Can I suggest you use the mail connector rather than outlook connector.

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

The issue was resolved by adding an Alias to the account for the emails to be sent from that username, after a few hours it started to sync properly and emails were coming from the new alias and eventually started to come from the Microsoft Flow account.

In the future, I would recommend any flows that are being built for the organization should be done by using a Service account to avoid this.

    Thanks again for the assistance,

    Regards,

    @ASLR

Do you mind sharing the instructions to add an alias ?

    Thanks Max

    Sure no problem.

Go to Office 365 Admin Center

    Click Active Users

Select the user you wish to add the alias to

    Their profile will appear

click on Edit to add alias

    Add the alias

    Change Display Name

(Make the Alias the primary email if you want the emails to come from that account)

Give it about an hour or so for it to sync across all applications.

Note if you make the alias primary you will need to sign in to Office 365 with the new email moving forward.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

Hi - this is really useful, but does the alias affect normal emails too if it's set as the primary?
I wouldn't want my standard emails to come from an alias account.

    Thank you

Re: Flow Emails are coming from the creator rather than Microsoft Flow.

    Hi,

Somehow changing the alias fixed the issue for the emails being sent by the user who created the flow to the default email from Microsoft Flow (it can take from an hour to 24 hours for the changes to take effect)

Emails would be sent from the alias account created if you set it as the primary. Once the issue is resolved you can probably set back the old email you were working with as the primary.

How did you happen to add an Alias to the account? Thanks!
