PowerApps - your free trial will expire in 7 days - users are getting these every month

Hi there,

The PowerApp Plan 2 trial that Microsoft has provided to tenant users has caused a lot of confusion in our environment. We do not at this point want people creating environments, databases and the like as we do not plan to get Plan 1 or Plan 2 for PowerApps at this time. We'd really like to be able to disable this! We do volume licensing, so do not want users "renewing" or "purchasing" on their own.

However, we've had reports of users being spammed with "Your free trial will expire in 7 days," emails, for the ones that had signed up for the Plan 2 trial. They get them every month (or even more often). We are getting complaints that these emails keep coming and yet the plan never seems to expire.

Could you please let us know when the plans actually will expire? Is there any way for the end users to actually let the plan expire somehow so that they aren't getting spammed with expiry emails? We'd like to wipe out the Plan 2 trial from our tenant entirely, is this possible? Appreciate your help!

    Hi @DS2,

Can I block users in my organization from signing up for PowerApps?

Any individual can try out the features of Microsoft PowerApps Plan 2 for 30 days, and incur no costs as outlined in the How do users sign up for PowerApps section. This option is available to any user in a tenant and cannot be disabled by an admin. After the user's trial expires the user will lose access to PowerApps Plan 2 capabilities.

If a person signs up for a 30 day trial of Microsoft PowerApps Plan 2, and you choose to not support them inside of your organization, they can in no way incur costs to your company. When an individual signs up for Microsoft PowerApps, that is a relationship between that individual and Microsoft directly, like any many public cloud services from Microsoft, such as Bing, Wunderlist, OneDrive or Outlook.com, and does not in any way imply that the service is provided by your organization.

Finally, if your company wishes to restrict the use of organizational-only data inside of Microsoft PowerApps, that is possible through Data loss prevention (DLP) policies. For more details, See Data loss prevention (DLP) policies.

Thanks for the information. We have users that have been getting the "your free trial will expire in 7 days," for months now. The users have not been extending their free trial. I'm getting questions on when the emails for this free trial will finally stop - might you have any word on that? Appreciate your help!

Also, even though the Plan 2 trial users cannot incur charges, what they can do is create a bunch of environments and associate Flows and PowerApps with them. It is then down to PowerApps admin to follow up, find out what they are using and export\move items if they can before the trial expires - quite the bit of administrative overhead.

    Hi @DS2,

    Apologize for the late response.

That is out of my knowledge. It is recommended to open a support ticket on the issue.

For blocking users from sign up for the free trials, a support ticket is needed.

    Regards,

    Michael
