How to grant "Edit" permissions to users other than the list item owner after executing the "Stop Sharing" action for an item or folder

Scenario: After executing the "Stop Sharing" action for an item or folder, I attempted to grant permissions to users other than the list item owner using the "Grant Permissions" action. However, it seems that only "Read" permissions are being granted, even though I specified "Edit" permissions.
