Transfer data between Excel and a SharePoint list

I have a need to transfer data between excel and a Sharepoint list.  The transfer can be from a row in excel to a list item or from a list item to a row.   Now for the tricky part.... each item in the list is for a different excel spreadsheet.   For example, 5 list items equals 5 unique excel spreadsheets.

In both the Get a row (excel) and Update a row (list) actions, the file name for the excel spreadsheet must be specifically stated.  I am not able to enter a variable that contains the name of the excel spreadsheet.

Any thoughts on how I can accomplish this?

Thanks!

Dave

Use a switch so you can switch on the value that indicates the spreadsheet and then pick the correct spreadsheet to create/update in each switch case

    Hi @DTooley ï¼Œ

As Gristy suggested, I'm afraid you need to use Switch to configure Create / update operations for different excel spreadsheets.

Because when we configure the action in the Excel connector, we can only use File browse to select the specified file. These parameters cannot be dynamically configured.

Thanks for the response.  However, I don't understand how a Switch will work.  The Switch examines a field and then routes the workflow to a path that matches what is in the examined field.

The field I would examine in the Switch would contain the name of the excel spreadsheet I need to update.  Based on my understanding of Switch, I would need a path for every spreadsheet.  But since spreadsheets come and go, I don't see this working.

Can you explain more fully how I can use Switch?

    Thanks!!
