Export PowerBI to Excel from Power Automate Desktop

HI everyone.

I could only see 1 other post about this which didn't help so I am posting this in case someone has any experience.

I have created a desktop flow in PAD to export data into Excel from a Power BI dashboard.  This has taken weeks to try and get right and still isn't working unless running directly on a machine.

The issue is with the "More Options" ellipsis in Power BI.  There does not seem to be a rational way of using it as a Web element or a UI element without any flaky and unreliable way of invoking this menu option.  For reference, I have shown the part of the Power BI report that I am referring to below.

The mouse needs to be over the the area of the report before the options appear.  I have tried virtually every different element and even scanned for text (which works but it's unreliable).  There does not seem to be a definitive way of invoking this pop-up menu in PowerBI from PAD.

Does anyone else have this problem and have they found a solution to it?  It's driving me nuts!

Thanks - Jon

Hi @JonL_srft  Did you finally get this to work? I also want to leverage the use of Power Automate Desktop to export the data from PBI matrix

    Hi,

Now I'm doing the same, I fixed this part using the Recorder tool and basically clicking in the title chart that you want to download. Once this is completed (the recorder tool is only to click in the title, in my case the UI element is h3), I can add more steps to select Export data.

But when I want to use the click download link, it showed to me this message: Downloading files with a browser other than Internet Explorer is not supported... and Internet explorer will be removed this year

    Hi Jon,

Each dashboard in PBI like a sub-window. Once you make it active that will appear.

then you can mouse click the "..." for more options.

So the PBI screen should be on the top first.

Then you could identify the dashboard by image of dashboard Name.

Move mouse and left click it to active the dashboard.

Use Image of more options to move the mouse to "..." and left click again.

    That should work.

By the way, I do not know whether because my PBI is old version. I can export excel on PBI online but only CSV on PBI desktop.
