creating a gallery with a dropdown filter

I have a SP list with a multi choice selection. I loaded a gallery and did a concat on the audience column and created a dropdown. 
I cannot get the gallery to filter by the dropdown selection, it keeps going blank.
 
please help
 
 dropdown Item  
Choices('CCI Training Courses'.Audience)
 
Gallery Item
Filter('CCI Training Courses',Audience = Dropdown1.Selected.Value)
tried both = as well as In.

    If the dropdown itself isn't set for multiselect then you need to us 'in', but in the opposite order for the arguments
     
    Filter('CCI Training Courses',Dropdown1.Selected.Value in Audience)
