PAD - Create multiple AD Users from Excel

Hi there,

I really hope you can help me out. I can't get my Head around this error.

What I'm trying to do:

We geht an "New User Survey" from Froms, downloading the Exel file and feed that in to PAD.

See Screenshots.

Everytime on every other configuration on "Create User" i get the

"An invalid dn syntax has been specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80072032)"

Except when i type in "my own" values eg. "Peter Test" or something like that for "Username".

I hope you get what I'm trying to explain.

PS: The will most likely be only one user at a time, but we trying to automate the whole thing.

Best regards

Max

In the third screenshot, the Username is written as a combination of the Last Name and First Name and there is a space between these two, is that a correct UserName?

    Hi,

thanks for the fast answer. Sadly it didn't work.

    Error stays the same.

What i cant get my head around is, that the "Username" in PAD is not the "Username"-AD Attribute.

I can't quiet explain it, but i belive this some missunderstsnding between AD and PAD. It's a gut feeling. Do you know what I mean?

    Best regards

    @bsz-cloud

    Try this: %var1 + var2%

    If there is a space in between: %var1 + " " + var2%

    @kostasc thank you very much.

I tried "every" possible variation. It just won't work. I tried "Join text" to get just one variable.

As so long as I just type some name in the "Username" section every other variable failes.

Is this just the wrong approach for my user creation automation?

    Best regards

    Max

    Hi @bsz-cloud

Hope you have been checking the shared links to see if something rings a bell and suddenly you know what to do.

Active Directory actions - Training | Microsoft Learn

All Active Directory user management actions require the user’s distinguished name. The Distinguished Name field should have the following format: CN=nvarga,CN=Users,DC=contoso,DC=demo, where nvarga is the username.

    Hi @VJR

yes i did read that part.

Bear with me, I'm feeling kind of stupid right now.

For creating an user I'd set the "Location" to "OU=Neue_User,DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=int"

I assume the the "Username" value to be the Distinguished Name, which I want to create with "%Var% through the values from the Excel sheet.

If I wanted to modify/update/move  this entry I'd specify the Distinguished Name.

    Beat regards

Guys, I got the same error and found the solution. Here is how I did it.

There are whitespaces in the text (username, first name, last name, etc.) So I added a trim text option to the ColumnAsList. Once I added that option to all the text that was pulled from the CSV, I was good to go.
