Default values not recognized until gallery is interacted with

When I load my page the checkboxes are checked by default but still evaluates to false and its corresponding value to blank. This causes a situation where if the user only changes some checkboxes the ones that remain on their default values are null'ed.

On load:

Text box to the right is: checkbox.Value concatenated for all four columns in the same order as the columns.

If I then uncheck the first columns checkbox:

And upon re-checking the first columns checkbox:

I am not sure at all what is happening or what I should try to debug this

The check and OnUncheck properties are set to true and false, I'm not sure what other properties I should share but please do ask

    After playing around with it for a bit it seems the gallery's property; "Selectable" has something to do with this. It is set to true which means only the 'true' checkboxes in the row i latests clicked in can be evaluated to true.

    I set it to false and now only checkboxes in the second row can be evaluated to true
