All my flows that has this particular action began to fail tonight. All with the same error of unsupported media type. The document is a word document created by the sharepoint create file action earlier (also see attached).

    Is there any changes against your word template ?
    If you use a minimal flow ( Convert Word Document to PDF), use a different word file and the one created by the word template, compare the result.

    can you try the pdf conversion action after the word template.

    @w.p @EI-30071734-0 I've tried it with OneDrive action and it still fails:
    {
     "status"406,
      "message""Conversion of this file to PDF is not supported. (cannotOpenFile / Error from Office Service. Url=https://euc.wordcs.officeapps.live.com/document/export/pdf HttpCode=UnsupportedMediaType)",
      "source""api.connectorp.svc.ms"
    }

    Now this is affecting many other flows with different templates so i don't think the template is the issue. The file itself opens correctly and its not corrupted.

    Im getting the same error too since yesterday 30th JULY.

    On the 29th it was working fine.

    I did not change anything to the flow or anything else related to it.

    @Blackbetty figured it out. Just go and resave all your templates and it should work. Maybe add a space or something somewhere in the document to make it save a new version. Sigh 😖

    Likewise started suddenly getting the same error after yesterday. Converting a Word template saved to SharePoint into a pdf fails with the unsupported media type error. Neither the template nor flow in use have been changed since December 2024 and were working reliably.

    I did some testing with Word templates and the connector in an other flow.
    • The Word template that is giving the error, kept giving the error even after stripped of all content and controls
    • Uploading an empty Word document to SharePoint and trying to convert that to pdf also gives unsupported media type error
    • Empty word document that is created in SharePoint, downloaded and having controls added to it, and then uploaded back to SharePoint can be converted to pdf
      • However, copying any controls from the old template during this process makes the word template give unsupported media type error again

    So it seems there were some sudden changes in the Convert Word Document to PDF action that broke the processing for existing Word Templates.

    Why are the existing Word Templates suddenly not working with the Convert to PDF action? Especially since the Populate Word Template action of the same Word Online (Business) connector is still working normally with the same templates.

    Why is it not possible to convert a Word Document that is created locally, but one created in SharePoint can be? The error only mentions that the document could be "restricted". How can you check this in SharePoint?

    I am also having the same issue since yesterday 30/07. I did not change any part of the flow.

    Same issue here..
    When the word document has "Content Control". it will throw this error "Unsupported Media type".
    It started happening to me as well after 30th of July...

    Created a new word file without content control, works.
    Created a new word file with content control, hit the same error..

    It seems is a @microsoft issue..
    I hope they fix it asap

    Saving all the templates again does not work for me.
