Hi

Background

I have a client with a custom API wired up with the Canvas app.
The custom API does some processing within Power Automate.

Requirements

  • If custom API fails within 2 minutes, then autocancel the work workflow as cancelled or failed (due to an error)
  • Return the Workflow status ( cancelled / Failed) to the Canvas app users.

Issue

I referred to this Blog where I am able to https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Automate-Community-Blog/Power-Automate-Fundamentals-10-Usage-of-workflow-Function-in/ba-p/1247789
where I can capture the workflow status in Power Automate and then send an email.

But I need to return the error to the Power Apps canvas app.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

You can only use that action to return values to an App if the flow was triggered from the app.  That was the point I was trying to make.

Thanks, @Pstork1  for your quick response.

Can use the Return data to PowerApps from a flow action at Power Automate?

Will it work in my case?

Unless the Power Automate flow is triggered manually by the Power App there is no way to return the error message to the App.
