Hello forum,

I have a problem with a drop-down list in UI element, which automatically closes in the next step for no reason.

On my computer - flow work, but on 2 others - it's not.

Flow is: click in window -> click from the list on the item. PA clicks on drop-down button, and opens the list, after, when trying to do the next step in flow - drop-list is closes. And have error, because can't do next step.

Even if i try on another computer registrate flow -> same problem.

Also, i tried another 2nd step: fill text or click one more time - same. If create a step - wait after 1st step - drop-down doesn't close, but on the next step, it again close

Are your selectors generic enough? i.e. did you go inside them and untick a few things that might make them non-generic, such as the title of the software or ID's?

It clicks it, as i said - if i add wait - it opens a drop-down list, then closes on the next step.
And if i registrate it, then without closing a window with a drop-down, run script - it doesn't work.

I've had a couple of similar apps, and usually, the solution depends on how a particular app works. No one solution for all.
In your case - did you try to use other UI actions such a select list item and workout the selector for the list items (without the action that is clicking the arrow to open the list)?

Yes, i've tried 4-5 different types of actions. On my computer, all 5-6 actions are working on the same app (same version), but on another is not 😞
I've tried also not to click on the arrow, but it's only one more action i can do - click on the bar to open the list, and it also closed on next step.
Even tried: if drop-down list is closed - open it one more time, but it doesn't work.

Found a problem, but don't know how to solve it.
In the next step, after first click - it clicks one more time. Why? I don't know, if the next step isn't wait - it clicks.
If 1st step clicks, 2nd wait (list is open and it doesn't click) -> 3d step - it clicks.
I guess it's some sort of bug.
Select list item doesn't work - can't find a list.
If You know solutions - please let me know.

P.S. 1st step -> click on the element or click on the button - same result
P.S.S. Tested manually open the list, and it also clicked on the next step (even if previous step wasn't click). So it's probably some sort of bug UI 😞

Sounds like a bit of a special case,
Try the following, see if they work:
- Use "Send Keys" action to either get the dropdown list via keyboard keys, or to select a dropdown item.
- Use the Recorder feature, and simply record the actions that you want the automation to do, let it run and see if that works, if it does, use the selectors the recorder has made for you instead of your own.
- Combine UI Elements & Send keys, simply open the dropdown and let the next action be a "Send Keys" action that presses the down arrow, which would focus the dropdown into the foreground.
- Use Focus window to bring the dropdown into the foreground if you can,

That's about as much as I can give you in terms of ideas, I'd help more but I'd need to be able to use the actual software being used here to go further.

Recorder - doesn't work 😞
But, used send keys to select a dropdown item, and it works. Unfortunately can't type text in the search box in the dropdown list or choose by clicking on item in the dropdown list.
It seems that on the 2nd step (even if it focus), PA clicks return button. Don't know why, but i can do it by "Send Keys". "Send Keys" worked, not ideal, but it works.
