Sharepoint Approval Flow Button Folder Structure Issue

Hi all,

I have built an approval flow for files in my Sharepoint library. The flow is initiated by manually.

The flow now works fine, and I have made a button in the library to start the flow.

However, I have a problem. The folder that I want my approval button to apply for, is a subfolder in a library.

Now the button I have made shows for all levels of the folder.

Like this:

Level 1 (Library)

Folder 1 Action Button.png

Level 2

Folder 2 Action Button.png

Level 3

Folder 3 Action Button.png Level 4

Folder 5 Action Button.png

The folder "Bank_Rec_Excel" is the only place where I want the button to show, and where I want the approval flow to be initiated from!

I have scavenged the internet but cant figure out how to do this. Currently the approval flow shows on all levels and can be initated on any file.

(I know this is kind of a sharepoint question, but I believe a lot of people will face excactly this issue when using flow buttons in sharepoint).

Would appreciate any assistance!

Hi @Anonymous you can't do this because folders within a document library all act the same, you can't do something different for one folder, like the button, but not for another.

However, I'm still not able to do it. But it leads me to believe its possible, just difficult.. unless something has changed of course...

Someone else that are able to decipher the suggestions made in these links or have solved this themselves?

As one of the responses said, you can easily hide a column via views but that's not the same as it not being there at all in a folder. Another response used javascript, so if you wanted to do this you've need to be in the classic experience as there is no Content Editor Web part in the modern experience.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you wan to trigger the flow when files within a specific folder is selected?

I have figured out the following workaround for your reference.

As the files are stored in a specific folder, so you could consider adding a Condition to check if the selected file folder path equals to the specific folder path. If yes, do the following actions, if no, do nothing.
