Hi,

I had some huge performance issues about half year ago editing after turning on named formula's and with that the new analysis engine.
After I found out that was the problem I reverted back.
Now a month ago i read new analysis engine will be default so I retried.
All went well so I added one named formulas. No problem.
Now I added two more, a bit more complex (parsing text into a number of days, just 15 lines or so) and I am back to zero. Even adding two comment charaters the editor stalls as good as indefinetely, no more saving is possible, no more code ot other controls can beopened, no more text can be searched in the code. After I go shopping 1/4 hour later all is fine. No errors.

Is using named formula's restricted to one or two or only 3 or 4 lines per formulas max?

    Hi HansHeintz

Named formulas shouldn't be restricted to 3 or 4 lines per formula max.

There was a post here several days ago where Microsoft Support acknowledged performance problems with the Analysis Engine.

I imagine the performance problems we see with named formulas now is a result of this issue.

Try raising the Data Row Limit to 2000.

I don't think that named formulas in Power Apps are restricted to a specific number of lines. You can create named formulas with as much complexity as you need. However, please be cognizant of performance and usability issues that may can arise depending on several factors.

    Quick Tip:
Impact on Editor: While named formulas aim to improve performance at runtime, their complexity can overload the Power Apps editor’s analysis engine, especially during design time. This is likely what causes the editor to freeze or stall.
