Different date formats from different devices

Hi everyone,

I'm using Power Apps with excel for business as a database.

The problem is when different users submit records from their devices I get different kinds of date format in my Excel table like 27/05/2023 AND 05/27/2023 And 27 May,2023 for the same date, which causes issues to me when trying to filter by date or even try to read them as dates.

I heard that Excel sucks when it is used as a database in Power Apps, I don't know if this issue has something to do with Excel. I am thinking seriously of migrating the database to Sharepoint if this solves the problem.

Any help?

Hi @omarrashed

If you are able to migrate to SharePoint, that would be the best solution going forward.

The most likely problem here is that Power Apps doesn't recognise your date column as a a column of data type 'date'. Therefore, it's saving text values that correspond to the regional date settings of the end user device.

Also, if you're using the Excel Online business connector, there's an issue in that it doesn't properly support numeric/date data types.

the issue appeared again after migrating to Microsoft lists.
my phone uses English date format "dd/mm/yyyy" ,
but power apps and sharepoint displays American date format "mm/dd/yyyy"
This causes the date saved today for example 2nd of August to be saved in the app as 8th of February.
any ideas?

Hi @omarrashed - what's the data type of your field? Is it setup as a date column?

Also, how are you saving your record? Are you using a form or calling Patch?

The field is setup as date.
