How to find Library column Name in Power Automate

Posted on by 10
Hi all,

I need to create a flow that will update the document name based on the different column values like Document Version, document type and so on but that what I am not able to find is the default Name column i power automate. Which field is matching Name in power automate? It is not the title because under the show/hide columns there is a column named Title.

That what is interesting is that the Name column is even missing in the Library settings. It could be that this is by design but what to do in this case?

The process is the same, just use appropriate string variables for the sections of the URL etc that need to be different. The same way that the blog does with Filenamewithextension and ID.  For example, the title of the document library can be a variable too.  Each list will probably need its own version of the flow though since the connector is specific to each library.

How to find Library column Name in Power Automate
    Hi Mr,

I like the second method but how to do it without hard code the value. Requirement is whatever I upload to sharepoint change the name to this for example:

Document1.docx, update the name so that it looks like this FG_Dep_011_Document1.docx and so on. It will add policy name (FG in this case), Department abbreviation, version number and then document name.

We have 4 different lists which hosts the abbreviations and libraries have a lookup columns.

Name is the actual file name of the document and not a column in SharePoint. There is no action to rename a file in Power Automate. There are two different workarounds.

    1) Get the file content of the original file, create a new file with the updated name, and then delete the old file from the library.

    2) Use an HTTP REST call to update the filename.  Here's a BLOG that walks through how to do that. Rename a file in SharePoint with a single Power Automate action
