Using SharePoint Library Field to Update SharePoint List Field When Change is Made

I'm working on building a flow in which when the Status Field in a SharePoint Library is updated it will trigger the Status to be updated in a SharePoint List. I'm getting an error when the flow goes to For Reach step.

@jhmorales I would recommend adding Trigger Conditions to your flow trigger. This way your flow will only trigger when the Status Field is updated to a specific value. Without a trigger condition, your flow will trigger each time a file is modified—which is probably not what you want.

Can you switch to the Classic Designer and expand all of the actions in your flow and upload a screenshot of that. You shouldn't need an Apply to Each action in your flow (to update an item). However, since you need to update a SharePoint list—you are missing a Get Items action in your flow. How are the library items connected to your SP List items?

Check out this YT Tutorial for more details on how to add Trigger Conditions to your flow: 4 Ways You Can Use Trigger Conditions in Your Microsoft Power Automate Flow

If you are using an Automated Cloud flow trigger in your flow—you need to consider adding trigger conditions.

Do YOU 🫵 know what a trigger condition is? Trigger conditions can be set in most flow triggers. These conditions you set must be true for the trigger to fire. In this Power Automate tutorial, I’m going to show you how to use trigger conditions in your flows to control when your Power Automate flows trigger.

If your plan has flow run limits—you can avoid triggering your flows unnecessarily by using trigger conditions.

I’ll cover four different flow examples that would benefit from trigger conditions:

️ Triggering a flow when a column is changed to a specific value

️ Triggering a Flow When an Event Updated or Deleted

️ Triggering a Flow When a New Folder is Created

️ Triggering a Flow When a Specific Email is Received I’ll also show you a trick on how to easily create the expressions needed and give you a few tips on how to troubleshoot your flow.

@creativeopinion  The SP Library (Evidence) has request #'s that are also in the SP List (Request). The goal I'm trying to achieve is that when the status is updated in the SP library then the status in the SP List will be updated. The List and Library share the same Request #. I did watch your video, but I'm still learning and not great at the expressions yet.

@jhmorales You don't need a For Each (aka Apply to Each) loop in your flow. However, you need a way to tie your SharePoint Library item to your SP List item. How do you know which SP List Item needs to be updated?

In order for your SP List item to be updated you need the SP ID to be inserted into the ID field—this is incorrect.

@creativeopinionI went and modified based on your feedback. I got rid of the For Each and I did end up adding a trigger in settings on when an item is modified :  @TriggerOutputs()?['body/Status/value']. I am getting a new error:
