Hi,

I read on the internete about this action and how to get all users but it doesn't seem to work.

If I leave the search term empty it should get all users in the directory. the file is so small and if I try to find specific user then it finds nothing so the user is missing in the result set. Then I tried search for K. Unfortunately it search in several columns not just search for Surname starting with K. But it doesn't find my specific user either. I need to type in Koe in search term and at this time it retrieves a list where I can find the user. So my conclusion is that the action doesn't get all user when the search term is empty or am I wrong?

It seems like you're experiencing issues with a user search functionality, and your attempts to retrieve users with various search terms are not yielding the expected results. Here are a few steps and considerations to help troubleshoot and understand the behavior:

    1. Empty Search Term:

      • Confirm that leaving the search term empty should indeed retrieve all users in the directory according to the system's documentation. Check if there are any specific requirements or limitations mentioned for this action.
    2. Search by Surname:

      • If the intention is to search users by surname, ensure that the system supports searching specifically by surname. Some systems might have a broader search that includes multiple fields.
    3. Search with Specific User Information:

      • If searching with specific user information isn't yielding results, verify that the data you're providing for the search (e.g., surname or username) matches the format expected by the system.
    4. Search Fields:

      • Investigate which fields the search functionality is querying. If it's searching multiple columns, check if there's a way to specify or filter the search to focus on the surname field.
    5. Documentation and Support:

      • Refer to the system's documentation for the specific action or API you're using. It might provide insights into how the search functionality works and any nuances related to searching for users.
    6. User Properties:

      • Confirm that the user you're searching for has the expected properties or attributes set in the system. An issue with user data could impact the search results.
    7. Contact Support:

      • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the support team of the system you're using. They can provide more tailored assistance based on the specifics of their platform.
    8. Testing with Other Users:

      • Test the search functionality with other users to see if the issue is specific to a certain user's data or if it's a broader problem.

Remember to document the steps you've taken and any specific error messages or unexpected behaviors you've observed. This information can be valuable when seeking assistance from the system's support team.

    Hi  @elstak

Please set Is search term required field to false if you want to get all users.

Then we can use filter array action if the search term cannot meet your needs.

    Hi Wearsky,

this is exactly I did but in that case just 999 users will be retrieved. there is another settings for this action thus Pagination. you can set is higher than 999 to get more but limit is 100k. I tried but this will not give me all users. I tried another option to retrieve just users with surname starting with e.g. A. Is not possible because the search term will search for A in several columns amd not just at the beginning. So I tried and further in filter array filter action surname starting with A could be filtered. It give me 30MB text file. for another letter e.x. F I will get 9MB file etc. Now imagine, I need 26 flows to capture all english alphabet letters.
