MS Word in PAD

Hi. Newbie here building my first flows in PAD. So hopefully an easy one for the guru's here.

I have successfully built 90% of what I wanted to do but just not sure how to do the last part.

I have used Excel to create a variable value of the latest file number in a folder of documents using a list.

I create folder with that number plus 1 for the next file. I then create a word document with that inceased number in the file name. All going great. Very happy. I even did a select all and refreshed my word fields. worked a treat.

Now......

I want the flow to now pick a table cell at the top right of my word document and enter the variable value as text in the table row. ie it will in the example name my document in document itself. eg I create CAN-21 and I wwant my "21" variable to get entered next to the CAN text in my document.

I am struggling to do this part. How do I get the UI to move the cursor to the cell I want?

I know how to enter the variable as text, but I have been unsuccessful getting the flow to select the correct location.

I created UI element for the box (image). But I am not sure how to get the flow to use it and write the text in there. everything I have tried has failed so far.

Did you try "click UI element" and then "send keys"?

Hi @Pmorg73, this is a simple flow that leaves out most of your actions. Here I use an image for hash sign, like you did.
My simple file contents (the part that matters):
My image for the hash:

The flow:

Result:
As you can see, all I did was move the mouse to the image, backspace to clear the hash, then insert the variable.

The move mouse line. how do I make it move where I want it? I read yours as being centre of screen? (this is the bit I have been struggling with). I had tried "Click UI element in window" but that seems to fail. i will try what you have done though.

For those simple additions just add your own variable syntax like $NoticeNo$ into the template and use Word's search and replace. Much more reliable than images and clicks.

You could use fields as well, but using another unique syntax to be replaced by your number would work as well. So instead of # you add a field or own variable and use search/replace when you want to add your number.

Image automation will break very easily as the view is highly dynamic due to zoom, font, resolution and other similar objects. Better not change the medium if not required.
