Terminal emulator able to run attended but not unattended

Hi

We have been able to setup PAD so it runs in emulator session. The process is able to run when started from the desktop and if the flow is running in attended mode. Although when it is run in an unattended mode, the flow fails, as it is not able to initiate the session.

The flow is the following:

1. We open the emulator without doing anything.

2. Wait 5 seconds.

3. Run the .dll file, C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Client Access\Emulator\ehlapi32.dll. And the session name = A, hence it matches the name, when opening the emulator in step one.

It works just fine, if it is running in an attended mode, but unfortunately it is not able to run in unattended mode. We get the following error: "There was a problem performing the operation 'OpenSession'. Error communicating with emulator"

Hence it appears as if PAD cannot recognize the session which is opened in the first step.

Any ideas for what is causing this? Or perhaps ideas for debugging?

    You can try these:

    • Wait for a specific UI element in the terminal window, to be sure it's ready to get connected to. Usually there's a status text at the bottom that changes to "Connected to server bla bla" or something.
    • Take screenshot right before starting the terminal session, and see if the program is open as expected.
