Problem Handling Block error

(0) ShareShare

I was getting an error in Line 5. Change Text case does not have an 'on error' option

I added On Block Error. But error still happens and flow Stops

I want to detect the error and set a flag indicating the error happened but I want flow to continue.

I also tried adding a rule and Continue Flow Run, but that didn't work. Flow stops on line 5 with an error.

    Hi @Steve48

Enable Capture Unexpected logic error toggle button and see the result then 🙂

    Hi @Nived_Nambiar

Enable Capture Logic Error did make it catch the error. So that worked I'm not sure why it was considered a logic error though.

    Hi @Steve48

Could you tell what was the error message shown earlier on change text case action?

    Hi @Nived_Nambiar

The error message was something like DefPeopleDataTable doesn’t have property ´status´.

I found the root cause of the problem. This is a flow that is getting a JSON response from the GPT4 API. onse I ask it to find people in a specific category.

The response has a different structures as shown below. It seemed as if which one it gave depended on how many people there are in the category, but it looks like I can't rely on this.

I will try to prompt the API to give me a consistent response structure, independent of how many people there are. Hope this clarifies the situation

    DefPeopleDataTable[PeopleLoopIndex]['defendants_people']['first_name']

    DefPeopleDataTable[PeopleLoopIndex]['first_name']

    Hi @Steve48

May be due to that it hasn't the captured the error when that toggle button was off.

An object not containing a property/key is considered to be an "unexpected logic error" by PAD, just like errors like "Index X out of range" or "data table does not contain column named {something}", etc. These types of exceptions can only be handled by the On block error action with the "Capture unexpected logic errors" toggle on.

It seems as if the simplest thing to do is to always enable this option. is there a downside?

No. That's the right and recommended way of doing it. No idea why it is disabled by default.
