Write text to file - Encoding ASCII not working

Hello community,

we're running PAD Version 2.34.181.23193 on a variety of Win 10 and 11 machines (local and vm). On every Setup we receive no error while executing the Action "Write text to file" with selected encoding "ASCII".

Against our selected parameters the created Files are always saved in UTF-8.

The same happens when we try the system default encoding or switching to "Write to CSV file"-Action with system default or ASCII-encoding.

Is this a general Problem in PAD? Otherwise I'm hoping for some suggestions to fix this behaviour.

I have the same question (0)

Can you please share some examples of what exactly you are trying to write to the file that gets converted to UTF-8?

I'd try to replicate that and see if this is something on your end or a more global thing.

    Thanks for your offer.

We tried to save various sample texts to make sure we don't use some ASCII-unknown characters. Even some simple thing like "Helllo world" is saved in UTF-8.

I can in fact reproduce it and seems like it could be a bug. Might make sense to report this to Microsoft support.

Thank you for testing it on your side.
