# of views or times a file has been accessed

Hi - am new to Power platform community. I would like to know if Power automate has the capability to record a number of viewers for files saved in either Sharepoint or Onedrive? If possible, may i ask you to share with me your flow to record or track the number of times a file was accessed?

Track PowerPoint or Excel Views:
Trigger: Flow activates when a user opens or modifies a Powerpoint presentation or excel workbook saved in Onedrive and sharepoint:
Action: Capture details (filename, number of views, number of unique user, time spent on the report, etc)
Log the event into sharepoint list or excel (all). And then the data will be sent to PowerBI for real-time visualization.

Thank you.

Imho you don't need a flow to track these type of events. Microsoft is already doing this for you instead (via features like Analytics and Purview Audit logs).

For example the Item Analytics/views can be accessed on the information panel of a document (see the screenshot below).

You can also visit the site usage data settings page to get an overview of usage of your whole site:

If you want to access those statistics via Power Automate you can use for example the Get itemAnalytics method:

I have shared an example of that in a blog post (for video files):
