Flow Email Source/Account Name Change

(0) ShareShare

I've created a Microsoft Form, SharePoint List, and a couple of Flows.

One of the Flows is a 'Send Email...'.

When the email is received it indicates that it is from me rather than the database from which it was generated and where the data is archived.

Is this a default condition that CAN NOT be changed/edited, or is there a way automatically or manually update this to another source/name/account that will show rather than my name?

I'm assuming this is set up to be the name of whomever the author/owner of the form/flow/database is, yes?

For most of the Send an Email actions there is a From field.  You can specify the account you want to be the sending account for the email by filling that in.  But, you must have Send on Behalf of permission to the sending mailbox to be able to use that successfully in the From.

    Thank you for the reply.

Can I interpret your reply to mean a general / group email account can be created for this purpose, and as long as the owner of the Flow has been granted "Send on Behalf of" permission in that general / group email the Flow owner can change the From: address in the Flow to the general / group email address?

    1) Yes, if its a general email with a mailbox.  Group emails don't normally have mailboxes

    2) The flow has to be an automatic or recurrence trigger.  Manual triggers run in the context of the person who triggers a flow so everyone would need "Send on Behalf of" permission

Great. This is an automated Flow triggered by 'When an item is created...' in the SharePoint List.

Sounds like all that is needed is a general email address for this purpose to which I have been granted 'Send on  Behalf of' permission.

    Thanks!

Does the 'Send an Email (V2)' Office 365 Outlook action limit the process to ONLY sending to Outlook email addresses?

Can the above also be used to send emails to Gmail accounts, or is another send email action a better choice?

Send an Email (V2) can send to any valid email address.  You can't send an email from anything other than an Office 365 address, but you can send to and address.
