Extract data and convert

Hello

I am radiologist and wanted to ask if powerautomate can be used for the follwing task.

1. Extract Dicom SR files (several per patient; several patients) from an online server (big technical company; the login information is not a problem)

2. Convert all Dicom SR files (textinformation) to excel/csv

The company suggested to write a python script for that, but unfortunately I can't program in python and do not have the time to learn it. However, I will have similar tasks in the future and would like to have a solution where I am not dependant on the company involved or our very limited IT resources of the hospital.

Regards

Depends entirely on what a Dicom SR file is... 🥴

Can you explain, or even better, show?

    Hi

thanks for your reply. A Dicom SR file stands for DICOM structured report file, which is used to store non dicom files i a container in order to save it i Picture archiving systems databases. I attach one such file here (only the screenshot as this system does not allow upload of .dcm files). Theses files can be opened by a Dicom Viewer (ie. MicroDicom). In this file the content is text information about measurements of 12 vertebrae from T1 to T12. On each vertebra there are three measurements given under Height and one measurement on Attenuation coefficient.

I would like to automatically download these files from a server and extract this information for each examination in the form of an excelfile

    Regards

    M

Yes, should definitely be possible, and probably quite easy to program. Especially if the Dicom Viewer has en Excel export function.

    Hi

unfortunately the Dicom viewer does not have an export function. So the Dicom viewer is really just for viewing the data. There is a free converter (https://support.dcmtk.org/docs/dsr2xml.html) but here the next problem is how to install this program properly.

So I would need help in making a script for 1. extracting the Dicom SR file from several patients from a database (would think is is SQL) and the convert these files from Dicom SR to excel.

    Thanks M
