File Upload vs SharePoint/OneDrive knowledge sources

Is there a difference in the AI between using data sources. I have a number of pdf documents and I am getting different behaviour between connecting to a one drive folder as opposed to uploading the files directly. The file upload option provides much more accurate answers. With the “use the AI general knowledge to off,” , sometimes the onedrive option doesn’t even seem to be searching the documents

    That is a great question. I am going to try to repro, if you can give a little more detail about whats in your AI knowledge etc, or if you dont mind sharing (if its not confidential) I will see if I can repro.
     
    At the moment with my own I cannot, regardless of where I store it.

    Difference in AI behavior between connecting to a OneDrive folder and uploading files directly can be how AI processes and accesses the data.
     
    When you upload files directly, the Copilot AI has immediate access to the content and can parse it in real-time. This direct access typically allows the AI to search and analyze the documents more thoroughly, leading to more accurate answers.
     
    When connecting to a OneDrive folder, the AI might rely on metadata or indexed information rather than parsing the content in real-time. It works well when you have Microsoft 365 copilot. 
     
    With "Use AI General Knowledge to Off" setting turned off, the AI exclusively relies on the connected data sources. If the connection to OneDrive is not fully optimized or the documents are not indexed correctly, the AI might struggle to find relevant information, leading to less accurate or incomplete responses.
