Excel online to SharePoint List Flow

Hi all,

I am trying to create the quickest possible flow to take date from an excel online table and create an item per row in a SharePoint list. The flow I currently have is an instant cloud flow:

Manually trigger a flow > List rows present in a table > Apply to each > Create item

My goal is to create around 3000 items in the SharePoint list from the excel with the flow and I would also like to include a condition that can update existing rows in the list  should any changes be made to the XLS. My current flow is taking around an hour to complete which surprised me (maybe I am being impatient and that is the quickest way already)

Any advice here is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you in advance!!!

Is creating the items in the SharePoint list a one-time event?  In other words, do you need to add 3000 items once and then just worry about keeping them in sync?

    Hi @ScottShearer

Thank you for your reply! The initial creation of the 3000 items is a one time action, then I would like either another flow or a condition within this flow that will update the existing records should something change in the Excel.

    Hope this makes sense

My suggestion is to create a new list and select "from Excel" when creating the list rather than using a Flow.

Your real problem is trying to keep the list in sync with the list.  How are you going to identify what row in Excel has changed?

Also, does each Excel row have a unique ID.

    Hi,

I cannot create a new list as I have multiple powerapps referencing the current list. I just want a flow to do what I need 🙂

There is no way around the fact that you are going to need to loop through each row and then use a create item (other than using a copy/paste into the list in grid view).   You might use a SharePoint HTTP action but I don't believe that will speed things up.
