HTML to Text converting text into all capitals

I'm using the HTML to text action to convert rich text fields in sharepoint to plain text so I can insert them into a word document using Populate Microsoft Word.

However, I'm finding that when during the conversion text is also set to all capitals:

    Hi Lewkir,

Can you past the value of your entire input below?

    Full input is:

    <p><html>
     <p><span><h4 class="r_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1 bx_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1 inheritFontFamily"><span class="bx_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1">Details of any financial impacts including £ value if applicable&#58;</span></h4><p><br></p>
    <p><span id="ms-rterangepaste-start"></span><span><h4 class="r_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1 bx_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1 inheritFontFamily"><span class="bx_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1">Details of any client impact and potential detriment&#58;</span></h4></span><span id="ms-rterangepaste-end"></span><br></p>
    </span></p>
    </html></p>

Oddly, I've just looked at other runs and it seems to have worked as desired there so I'm not entirely sure what went wrong in this one.

Will do a couple more tests and come back if the problem still exists.

    Hi @Lewkir ,

It seems the class you are referencing in your h4 tag is pulling a style sheet that capitalizes the font. If you remove the class="r_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1 bx_zVa6nxkE2WGSIf8v_1 inheritFontFamily"> you shouldn't see all capital text anymore.

Hmm I'm not sure I can do that.

The html is pulling from a SharePoint list rich text field and the text there is not capitalised.

@Lewkir After reviewing it further, I think it is the way the HTML to text connector in Flow handles the h4 header in general. Going to address this with the dev team and I will get back to you.

@Lewkir After discussing this with the dev team, they have informed me this is currently 'by design' for the connector. I can request this be changed and get a work item created for it, but it wouldn't be high priority at the moment. I wouldn't anticipate a fix soon, but I am happy to ask for this on your behalf.

@rocampThat's odd. I have done some more testing and it seems to be working as required now.

Apologies, I meant to get back to you but it slipped my mind.

The orignal run that was causing issues was me re-trying a test; now we have made some new list items the text has been pulling through with capitals and lower case in the appropriate places.

Thanks for your help anyway though.

@Lewkir  Hmm well that's interesting. I am still able to reproduce this on my end (see screenshot below). I am glad it's working the way you need though. I will still request the work item gets put in for this.

    Hi rocamp,

I've got a question in this area of HTML conversion. I have rich-text metadata columns backing several Document Property fields inside a Word document template. How I've done this is making a List to host the rich text columns, and a DocLib to host the template docx file (basically with empty columns for the Document Property fields.) I use Flow to read the rich-text from the List, and over-ride the Document Property fields. Using rich text is because the metadata fields contain tables and bold font sometimes.

The problem is that Word won't render the rich-text. It's showing the string values in their raw form with the HTML markup.

So, I think I need a "HTML to Word" or a "Rich-Text to HTML" conversion, or else perhaps Word simply cannot render the markup inside the Document Property and only plan text is supported.

This is an illustration someone else built, but it's using plain text so they aren't having the problem. Related to this, why would a DocLib custom column type not support rich-text?

    Hi
I am also facing same issue,
getting only caps in output, while using html to text action in power automate,
Please share the solution, if you found any.
