Receiving Twice Daily Approval Request Emails

Approvers who receive an approval request through our Start and Wait for an Approval workflows continue to receive duplicate email notifications if they leave those requests pending for more than a day. The duplicate emails come in twice a day for each pending request, at the same two times every day, until the approver submits a response. The flow seems to be otherwise functioning correctly, the Start and Wait for an Approval action is not inside an Apply to Each loop, and there is no indication on the back end why this would be happening. 

 

This thread from 2020 calls the duplicate notifications a known bug, but surely it wouldn't still be happening? Is anyone else experiencing this? https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Using-Flows/Approval-Flow-sends-approval-email-daily-to-Approvers/m-p/780043#M19769

    @SAHoff  can you share the screenshot of the flow, is the approval action inside do until loop? Try setting Retry policy of action to "none".

    Hi Anna, thanks for your reply. The approval action is not inside a Do Until or an Apply to Each, and I did reset the retry policy to none. The thing is, it's not failing with any kind of error message that would require a retry. The flow appears to be working perfectly, but somehow the Start and Wait for Approval action is sending multiple notifications for single successful approval runs. From reading other threads like this one: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Power-Automate/Power-Automate-approval-notification-issue/m-p/1843391 I am now assuming this is another Microsoft bug that they are hopefully on their way to fixing.

    This just started happening inside one of our Power Automate flows.  I had a user (the Approver) ask me why he was getting multiple emails.  Turns out, each day, he gets an approval email again for each approval that he has yet to approve.  So if he hasn't approved 3 items, he'll get 3 emails.  Haven't approved 4 items, he'll get 4 emails, and so on.  This is all in addition to the correct number of emails (i.e. 1 email for each request) that he gets when the request first comes in, which is triggered by an update to a SharePoint list. 

    Our setup is similar in that the approval is not in any kind of loop.  I saw from the link that the bug fix will conclude 12/5/2022, so maybe that bug fix will fix this issue?
