SharePoint List (Require that this column contains information) & Patch Function to Validate fields

Hi,

I have SharePoint list with a column having "Require that this column contains information" activated.

I use the Patch function to add the record for "On Save".

However, when I left this column blank there is no error shown and the new record is getting added. At this stage, I would like to through a error notification to user to input the value.

As there are lots of fields I don't want to have the Isblank function with an If condition for Patch, instead I would like to set all the fields to "Require that this column contains information" and show the user error screen if information is missed.

How to fix this issue?, any help much appreciated.

    Hi,

Thank you for your post. This problem occurs because the Patch function wont validate the required fields against the data source during the update of the record. I would suggest using the SubmitForm function which will check and validate against the properties of the form.

More information about this function is available here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/functions/function-form#submitform

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you!
    Rory
