Automatically get E-Mail title on new email in outlook web app browser window

Hello,

I have an Outlook Web App account that I cannot use to forward email, send notifications etc.

However, I'd like to know when a new email arrives and ideally also get the subject of the email.

So, I would like to somehow monitor the open browser window and whenever there is a change, copy the title of the top email, paste it into a new email and send that to another account.

I think I can manage the last steps, creating the variable from the clipboard, pasting the into the email and sending it.

However, I don't know how to monitor the window and register the change.

Also, the flow will then have to go back to the original state and then react to the next change.

I'd be happy for any guidance you could give me.

I have the same question (0)

I’ve never used the web app version. Cloud flows might be better for that. I use the Microsoft Oulook actions and you can do this with %RetrievedEmails[0].Subject% for the first email.

    Thanks, I'll look into it.

The email account is in none of our tenants, it requires a certificate to be installed in the browser and his highly restricted. I believe that going through the browser is the only option available.

So, PAD can do it, but the flow will always be running.  PAD doesn't have active triggers.  Online flows, such as Power Automate (Cloud or mobile) have these triggers such as "When new email is received..."  For PAD, the flow would loop continuously and say "Get all unread emails, for each retrieved email, do x, y, and z...then continuously check for more unread emails."

You should be able to do this without using Microsoft Outlook.  Search 'email' and 'exchange' under actions.  There is 'retrieve email messages' and 'retrieve exchange email message'.  Both are non-outlook solutions.  I imagine the datatypes would still be the same, so %RetrievedEmails% should still be a list variable type, %RetrievedEmails[0]% would be the first on the list, and %RetrievedEmails[0].Subject% should be the subject line.

    Good luck!

    Hi @a_schwibach

Your best option, as also suggested by Michael, is to use Cloud flows because it has a readymade trigger that will activate as soon as an email arrives. You don't even have to keep your browser window open.

Using Desktop flows will be a bit cumbersome but you can see how it works out for you based on the instructions in the post just above.

    Good day!

I'm not sure if there is a bit of miscommunication here.

I have no way of accessing this email account through imap or pop. I can only access it via the webinterface on a computer that has the certificates installed.

I am not aware of any trigger in Power automate that would allow me to access the webinterface.

I understand the flow would have to be running all the time. I could writing the subject of the top email as a variable and then have the flow compare this field against the stored variable. And if it's not the same, send the new one as an email and overwrite the variable... Then go again.
