I'm trying to a develop a Power App which needs to access an external Database of another organisation.

The connection to the Database uses Universal MFA as the authentication method, and I can connect to the database successfully using SQL Server Management Studio, but not with Power Apps.

In Power Apps, I have been trying to connect to the same database using the SQL Server connector and although I can create the connection, the authentication step does not trigger an MFA Request. When I come to use the connection (specifying the server and database name) I then get an error "The tables didn’t load correctly - please try again". I have been using the Azure AD Integrated authentication type. Conversely, I am able to set up a working connection to the database with Power BI, which triggers an MFA Request to my authenticator App as I set it up.

I suspect the problem is that the SQL Server connector provided in Power Apps just doesn't support this mode of authentication.

I wondered if any other users have faced this problem and if they had a workaround. I'm open to various ideas including different connectors, or using Power BI to create a dataset, which I could possibly link to with a different type of connector.
