Help: Compose step changes into $ in email step.

Hi All,

I need your help with building a flow and getting an error. The end result of the flow should be that an email must be send to the person who filed the questionnaire (Ms Forms). This is with respect to their mentioned travel days, so in SP list I made a calculated column which calculates the no. days they filled in.  So far the flow runs correctly except for the step sending the email, this is the error I am getting:

The reason I believe I am getting this error should be due to the following compose outputs (dynamic expression) $, see below.

The weird thing is, that only this output step changes and before saving and testing it is just as the Outputs also seen in the example. These are the steps power automate takes before adding it to the email.

Does someone know why the compose outputs expression suddenly changes to '$'?

    Hi @Anonymous,

It looks like the flow added ?['$'] which is a property which cannot be selected on a number. If have tried reproducing this with a similar compose name, but I wasn't able to. Within the cloud flow it does not change to the $ property reference.

Can you try and add the expression below in the body of the Send an Email (v2) instead of the $ property and see if that makes a difference?

    outputs('Output_-_no._travel_days_(compose)')

    Hi Expiscornovus,

Thank you so much as of now, it appears to have worked. Can I ask you another thing?

I have a flow (it is the same flow as before) where power automate needs to check in which tables to ID is included, we have 2 databases and one ID can only be included in one of the 2 databases. So far I build my flow as seen in the picture below, but due to not finding the ID in the parallel branch (which is correct) the whole flow returns as failed..

The email was send in the first branch so it was a successful flow even though in the second branch the ID was not found.

Do you know, how I can get power automate to accept this flow as a success?

Otherwise, I need to go through a lot of Flow failed messages which is not desirable. 😶

    Hi @Anonymous,

I would suggest to look into the configure run after setting of actions and/or use a try catch pattern with scopes.
