Hallo there,

I have two flows. One is Power Automate Cloud(PAC) the other is Power Automate Desktop(PAD).

The PAC flow starts the PAD flow.

The PAD flow has to:

  1. get an attached excel file
  2. read the data from the excel file
  3. open a Web Page in Microsoft Edge
  4. fills log in fields

The steps 1 and 2 are working fine. When it comes coms to step 3 the Web Page in Microsoft Edge pops up on the screen but the flow stops working and the following error message comes in the PAC:

Problem while executing action 'LaunchEdge'. Failed to assume control of Microsoft Edge (Internal error or communication failure).

This problems occurs when I  try to run it from PAC flow. When I run the PAD flow directly from Power Automate Desktop everything is fine.

Could somebody help?

Best Regards

Hristo

    Hi,

I hope you have proper extension on your edge browser if still not work then you can try this approach ,

    1) used run application action (provide path of edge exe and website path)

    2) used launch new Microsoft edge and attach the running action

    3) do you step on this web browser

(Note:- if you got your solution you can mark as solution and gives kudos)

    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Chetan,

Thank you for your quick reply 🙂

I tried it the way you have suggested. Unfortunately it does not work too.

The problem appears only  when I start the Power Automate Desktop Flow from the Power Automate Claud. When I run the Power Automate Desktop Flow from PAD App on my PC the Flow is working fine.

The problem has to do with the Action “Launch new Microsoft Edge”. Even when I used “Launch new Microsoft Edge” and attach the running Action as you suggested in order to get Web Browser Instance the Flow stops working at this line.

    Any other suggestions?

    Best Regards

    Hristo

    Hi,

I have gotten my browser to attach by using the "Launch new Microsoft Edge" action and attaching it by the title of the tab I'm trying to get to. In this instance it's just "New InPrivate tab", and make sure you are case sensitive with the title. My only other suggestion is to check your extension and make sure any checkboxes needed are checked and that site access is allowed to that site you're trying to reach.

Try disabling the "Wait for web page to load" toggle in the Launch new Microsoft Edge action, and instead use Wait for web page content as a separate action to make sure the page has loaded.
