Share Dataverse Connections References or Connections with other AAD Users or Groups

Hi all,

We’re currently working on some internal product development involving multiple developers.

As part of this, we all need to build Power Automate flows using specific connectors, such as Dataverse.

However, we’ve run into a limitation:
When I create a Power Automate flow under my named user account and assign a Connection Reference, that reference is not selectable by my colleagues. This is because the underlying connection is tied to my user account or to a service principal, but the ownership of the connection remains personal.

When trying to share the Dataverse connection, I can't find my colleagues in the sharing dialog, even though:

  • They are Members in AAD (not guests)

  • They have the appropriate Power Platform licenses

  • They have already logged in and are active users

  • They are working in the same tenant and environment

  • They can create their own Power Automate flows

I can only share the connection with "Azure APP Registrations" and not the AAD Users.

At this point, the only workaround seems to be that each developer creates their own connection reference using the same App Registration. However, this leads to clutter and complexity — especially when packaging solutions for the customer, as we then need to include multiple connection references and ensure each is configured upon import.

Is there a solution coming to support true shared or group-based connection references or is there a recommended best practice to handle this cleanly while still working with named user accounts?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Best regards,
Frederic

Do you have access to the Dataverse table?

If yes then did u check the members whom you want to share are part  of the user table. User Table is pre-populated by Microsoft Power Platform when you create an environment. It contains all the licensed users.

The AAD User is a virtual table. It makes it easy to retrieve any user in your organization’s Azure Active Directory. This means not just users who have a Dataverse license assigned to them.

Create a connection with service account  and share.

    @MS.Ragavendar

Thank you for your response. Please find my replies below:

    • The users are indeed present in the "User" table, which should mean they are visible, correct? However, in the "Share" screen, we only see the "Application Users".

    • We cannot work with a "Service User", as we want to track who is making changes and who is working on specific flows.

    • Ideally, we would like multiple users to collaborate on each other’s Power Automate flows without having to log in using a shared "Service Account".

Now we can't see/use each others connections/connection references.

    Thanks for responding back.

The agenda behind the service account was, If we are planning for the production release and the flow having multiple connection reference while you adding the depending objects connection reference itself having many in numbers in the solution any missing reference doesn't allow the deployment this may lead to complexity.

Now with respect to the issue, can't you able to share the connection reference with the relevant users ? can you please give the screenshot of the issue which you are facing?

Further more, if the any of the user ask them to create a flow whether can able to add the dataverse action in the flow ? or they facing any issues.
