I've been using powerapps for some time now, and really enjoy working with it. When it comes to integrating sharepoint permissions with powerapps, things become unclear to me, hence this question.
Question tl;dr: Is there a way to block user navigation to a site or list, while the user can still access this site or list via powerapps data connection?
More information:
There will be 2 groups of users using the app. Group A needs to be able to see all items in a list. Group B needs to be able to see items created by themselves and items created by users from group A.
- The only 'hard' setting on sharepoint level limiting the permissions of users in their access to items seems to be the setting where users can only read or edit the items they have created. This won't work in my situation, since users from group B also need access to list items made by users in group A (but not items created by other members from their group, B).
- I gather there is a way to edit the author field of a list item via a HTTP request to sharepoint with power automate. This would make things a lot more complex and slower on the user end, since this would have to be incorporated into every function that creates a sharepoint item.
- I'm aware of the possibility of creating a custom view for a list where you can force a filter on the user, giving a bit more flexibility than simply 'see what user made'. Again this adds complexity to the process, and doesn't shield the list item from the user, but only makes it more difficult for them to reach it.
My problem would be solved if users would be unable to navigate to the sharepoint site/list, while still retaining access to the data via the app. Is anyone aware of such a possibility?
