Duplicating a bucket in planner

Hello,

I'm looking to get some advice on how to duplicate a template bucket within a planner (since Microsoft hasn't implemented the feature yet for some reason).

I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but I wasn't able to find exactly what I needed.

Essentially, we have a bucket of 24 tasks that I want to duplicate every time we do a new survey for a client, as the steps will be the same every time. However, I'd want that duplicated bucket to be in the same planner.

Is that possible?

I genuinely appreciate any help with this as my team is swamped.

    Hi there,

With a slight modification, I believe this template ( https://canada.flow.microsoft.com/en-us/galleries/public/templates/7a37b0634b77465d8cd7363e61d3e27e/click-a-button-to-copy-planner-tasks-from-a-plan-to-another/ ) will work for you.

The "slight modification" is to add the "Create a Bucket" task before the Apply to Each - this will be the new bucket in your same plan.  And then just point the Bucket Id field at the "ID" from the Create a Bucket action.

Also, probably remove the "Assign User" from the Assigned User, and remove it from the Manual Trigger.

Just tried it out, worked well.

    Does this suit your need?

    Cheers,

    Rhia

(PS, and of course, you can change the trigger to whatever works for you.)
(PPS: I just noticed the "Canada" in the link I posted - so if you don't have access to that, try search Copy Planner in the templates in PA. It should be at the far right side.)

    Hi Rhia,

That's great thank you 🙂 I'll make the modifications you suggested when I have chance today and respond back with the outcome. Appreciate you explaining all that!

Unfortunately, that flow didn't work in the end. But on the plus side, my experience of going through flow and trying things out has led me to another solution 🙂 I basically made a flow to create a bucket, and then add the tasks to it, which will save my team lots of time going forward.

    Really appreciate the help though!

I'm confused - that's what the solution I proposed / posted a screenshot above was doing... can I ask how yours varied?

Could you post the final flow that worked for you please?

Yes please. I'm new to "Flow/Automate" and this is the problem I'm trying to solve.

So, if y'all could share it, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you for the solution. I was able to duplicate the bucket. Could you please advise as to how the checklists within tasks can be copied over while they are duplicated in the new bucket? Thank you!

It's an old post and probably a long shot. But did anyone figure how to duplicate the bucket with the checklists and labels inside? @Rhiassuring @RLB17 @fdadrass

    Unfortunately, no. Still waiting 🙂

    Hey Guys,

I got super hopeful when I finally found this thread. This is exactly what I am trying to achieve... Unfortunately I cannot use the canada link and on the Eu server this template just doesn't exist. Is there a chance you could drop another post with the step by step items I need in this flow? Or a snapshot of the whole flow? Thank you soo much in advance.
