How does Get User Profile work VS Get my profile action?

Hi,

How does the two differ and can someone show an example whats the difference in the data retrieve by the two and how it can be used via an approval action?

For example: how to retrieve the UPN when using get user profile?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm using Get MyProfile action and Get Manager Profile for an approval request and the managers IDs are correct in Azure AD and SharePoint is seeing the correct manager but for some reason, the approval is sending the flow to other people who are clearly not defined in their profile anywhere.

I tried to use the GetUserProfile Action instead but what should I use to enter the UPN as it's not working and giving an error.

Hi ASLR,

Action “Get user profile” retrieves the profile of a specific user. Required parameter for this action is user principal name or email id.

You could enter the specific email address in the UPN field, or you could also select a dynamic content that will return an email address for the UPN field.

By the way, you said that “the approval is sending the flow to other people who are clearly not defined in their profile anywhere”, please check Azure AD and make sure the manager information has been correctly configured.

Get User Profile fixed the issue with the manager emails.
