Hyperlink in an approval email

Hello users,

I have the following issue:

  1. I do have an integration between SharePoint and One Drive and thus I am able to open any files stored in SP through file explorer directly in the desctop apps
  2. In an approval flow I am inserting the hyperlink to a specific document and when the email is received, I do expect the link to lead myself directly to the file location (SharePoint location) and by double clicking the file to have it open in the desktop client

This was working just fine until some users started to complain that they receive plain text instead of hyperlink in the approval emails. If they copy and paste the plain text to the file explorer bar, then the location is easily sourced. If the same email is forwarded then the hyperlink becomes active and it works as expected.

Since the approval step is using Markdown, I start to consider whether a setting of Outlook can cause the issue. Can you please provide some suggestions?

    @dvoinikat ,

    You can check if it's an Outlook client issue by asking them to open the same notification in Teams/Outlook web access. Markdown works fine for me!

    @SudeepGhatakNZ, since my hyperlink leads to a file folder I believe this is the reason why it is not working. The syntax I am using is "File:///C:/Users/path to the folder".
    If I switch to https: link all works fine. Do you have any suggestion?
