Why would my flow keep adding ['$'] to my compose outputs within an update item function

Hello,

I'm currently going through and comparing values within two lists. I have a bunch of compose functions that are specifying the values I would like to have updated later on in my flow.

However, when I reference the compose in my update items it's adding a ?['$'] to the end of the specified value. Not sure why it would be doing that automatically.

Anyone have any insight to why it might be doing that?

This happened to me when I copied my Compose step and pasted it in the same workflow. Then both of the steps had the $ in it each time after saving the flow. It worked out when I deleted both of the steps and created them from fresh.
