Generating Work Orders from Flow

Hi

I want to generate  Field Service Work Orders using Flow. The Step requires me to specify the Work Order number. as this should be an auto-generated when the record is created in Dynamics. It works fine if I specify a Work Order number manually but I can't do this in real life as this needs to be auto-generated when the record is created in Dynamics.

Any suggestions?

Ya, I had thought of that also.  Wasn't sure what the setup was.

Most likely, the WO number is coming from a workflow inside D365 (I'm not super familiar with FS, but that sounds like the case).

I'm wondering if you can trigger a workflow to create the WO record from within D365 and then pass the WO # back to Power Automate for you to update with your dynamic data.

Ed- Hi.  It’s a good suggestion but I am really hoping I can get the WO number generated within D365 rather than by the Flow. Why? Because in the time it takes to retrieve the last WO number and increment it, someone might just log a Work Order manually on the system and then the Flow will fail. I was hoping there is a more robust way, but let’s see.

Hi there.  I wonder if it might work to add a step beforehand to get the most recent WO number, and then increment that into a Compose to use in that field in your Create Work Order step?

You might even be able to store the Most recent workorder number in FS somewhere and just poll that to speed things up.

    Either way, keep us posted.
