"Flow" menu does not appear when searching a SharePoint list

Hi,

When in a SharePoint list and searching for an item using "Search", after finding the item, there is no option for "Flow", for me to run for a selected item on. Any ideas why this is?

    Hi @brandanb

Can you please share a screenshot of the flow? I wanted to check the trigger that you are using.

These flows work when not searching the SharePoint list. It's just when I search it, the Flow menu when right clicking it goes away.

I suspect that what is happening is that Search is taking you back to the classic view of the list instead of the Modern view.  The new Microsoft search is the search experience in the Modern UI.  The traditional search is tied to the classic view web parts, etc. The Flow menu only shows up when you are in the Modern UI, so if you switch to classic it won't be there. I haven't tested it, but I think that is what is happening.

To add to @Pstork1 comment, even when you search in the modern view, the flow only works when you are selecting the item on that list in the view. I just tested this on my end and after the search for an item, and when you select it, it just shows a flow to set a reminder (provided you have a date and time field).

    Hope this Helps!

Wanted to add that I too am having the same issue using search, in modern view.  We have a list with over 4,000 items.  If the users scrolls through the list, or uses the filter by column option, then they can select the item and start a flow (either via the ribbon, or via a column I have formatted to start a flow).  However, if they use search, they can select the item but the flow option in the ribbon is no longer available.  And, the button in the formatted column is clickable, but does NOT start the flow.

Maybe this post should be changed back to unsolved, as I am able to recreate this issue today.

FLOW OPTION IS AVAILABLE FOR SELECTED ITEM (FOUND WITHOUT USING SEARCH)

FLOW OPTION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SAME SELECTED ITEM, WHEN USER SEARCHES FIRST

@kenttschoepe @brandanb I am also facing this issue in my tenant.

I have submitted an idea on SharePoint UserVoice to allow calling power automate flow while searching in SharePoint list/library.

I would request you all who are facing this issue to vote on below idea. If we get sufficient votes for this idea then Microsoft might implement this feature in near future.

Allow running Power Automate Flow while searching in list/library
